A quote from Bono:
The one thing on which we can all agree, all faiths and ideologies, is that God is with the vulnerable and poor.
The one thing on which we can all agree, all faiths and ideologies, is that God is with the vulnerable and poor.
God is in the slums, in the cardboard box where the poor play house.
God is in the silence of a mother who has infected her child with a virus that will end both their lives.
God is in the cries heard under the rubble of war.
God is in the debris of wasted opportunity and lives, and God is with us if we are with them.

Amen!
ReplyDeleteRecently at our church, Church of the Incarnation (Episcopal) we celebrated a Eucharist with the music of U2 -- it was a stunning experience.
ReplyDeleteThen we had a separate service in which we got permission from U2 to play a video of Bono's well-known interview about poverty.
He really has a way of telling it like it is.
What are the odds we could get Bono to be the keynote speaker at the Urban Ministries' Prayer Breakfast???
ReplyDeleteBetter yet ... what about getting Bono and U2 to perform at ANTR! Of course, you'd have to move it to Texas Stadium. I know ... quite a long shot.
