On November 10-12, 2009, Dallas will experience a "Justice Revival."
In concert with Sojourners and Dallas-based Foundation for Community Empowerment, a growing group of Dallas citizens from every sector are rallying together to bring this special event to our community.
Beyond the event, we envision a continuing civic and faith movement to establish enduring relationships, strong connections and continuing, coordinated action with a goal to see justice established in our city.
What is so cool about this justice movement is the fact that it is always open to new involvement.
Everyone is welcome to join the Justice Revival Dallas team.
The next meeting will take place on July 23, 2009 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Luke Community United Methodist Church (5710 East R. L. Thornton Freeway (I-30).
I hope you'll join us! You will be welcomed for sure!
What about a revival to stop the absolute INSANITY going on in Washington? Obama has taken over the auto industry, he wants to control the banks, he is on his way to take over health care, he is punishing the people who pay their credit cards off each month. If you don't think he's a Socialist I don't know what you would call it. Oh, and when the lawnmowers with seats that we will be driving soon, in the place of cars, bring in less gas tax, our taxes will be raised. Of course they will be anyway.
ReplyDeleteSojourners is just another liberal organization, anytime you see the words "social" and "justice" in the same sentence you might want to run for your life.
I can't wait for the 2010 election!
Chris:
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I catch your drift. Are you advocating social injustice? Calling Sojourners "another liberal organization" isn't much of a critique unless we are all agreed that "liberal" is a bad word like "Nazi" or "terrorist". I don't make that assumption, so you'll have to make a case based on actual argument and the presentation of evidence. Your comment is completely unrelated to the thrust of Larry's post.
Alan Bean
Alan, your assumptions about Chris are generous indeed. Her theology is so limited, so ill-informed, so narrow and so devoid of the fullness of the biblical message of justice, peace and equity that she can never see or acknowledge the point of posts dealing with these essential truths. She is an icon for the inadequacies of the instruction she has received.
ReplyDeleteChris -- racist Afrikaners (whites) in South Africa called blacks who fought against apartheid communists... Throwing around labels like socialist and communist is simply a sign of ignorance and intolerance.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Obama will be up for election in 2012. U.S. Presidents serve 4-year terms.
Wallis and Campolo I afraid are just as bad as some of those of the moral majority on the right. All they do is bash each other and never move toward the center. But then again Christ was the truly in the middle of the politics of his days as well.
