This President communicates.
Here's a portion of his speech last week before the 100th Anniversary of the NAACP.
He spoke on education, achievement, community, parenting and living strong.
What a speech!
I don't care what political philosophy you embrace.
What a speech! What a message!
I, too, thought it was a great speech. But I wonder if a comment on you blog which stressed personal responsibility would ever get even faint praise. Consider your comment on Sept 30, 2006 in reply to a comment on personal responsibility.
ReplyDelete"Many, if not most people have no real understanding of the complexities and challenges associated with poverty and more especially, generational poverty. The comments made by anonymous have assumed that the people in question have enjoyed all the same advantages as he/she has.
This is a major part of the problem we face in making significant progress on breaking the cruel cycles accompanying poverty."
Chris, it is a matter of balance in message. The reason why I seldom acknowledge an emphasis on "personal responsibility" if becuase those who typically make those statements and arguments never acknowledge the other side of that coin and their strategies seldom if ever acknowledge or reflect any understanding of the challenges facing low income people, the challenges that I mentioned in the clip you quoted from one of my earlier posts.
ReplyDeletePresident Obams delivers a message that consistently acknowledges both sides of the issue. Further, he acts in a positive manner to support the entire expresssion of the truth about this matter. Thus, my reasons for putting his great speech up on this site.
