Yesterday, KERA 90.1 FM, our NPR station here in Dallas ran a great report on the dilemma facing uninsured people when illness strikes.
The work being done by Central Dallas Ministries was featured prominently in Bill Zeeble's compelling report. Both our Community Health Services clinic and our involvement in Project Access Dallas were included in the report.

I listened to it and thought it was a great piece. But it made my head spin with all the different options and multiple centers. Could there be a more coordinated effort -- or is that what 211 is for?
ReplyDeleteLorlee, great point! The patch work, cobbled together approach is the direct result of our lack of a community-wide, universal health benefit in the US. We could do better and we must, but it will mean taking health care reform all the way to a national system; and I'd opt for a single payor approach.
