Poor people don't do very well in Texas in any category.
Now comes the news that Texas Governor Rick Perry will reject federal funds to expand Medicaid to the very poor who remain uninsured.
Even more amazing is the fact that the federal government would pay 100% of the expansion costs for thre first three years and then 90% of the cost after that!
You'll be interested to hear the following report from NPR on the Governor's action. And, be sure and watch a FOX News interview with Mr. Perry here.
Amazing!
First, I,m not interested in anything NPR has to say. Second, the cost to taxpaying Texans for adding 1.6 million people to the Medicaid roll is horrendous, and will continue to escalate as time passes.
ReplyDeleteNot as costly to us as not providing care when only option is ER. Actually will cut our costs.
ReplyDeleteTexas is again in the top ten, first in business. Why are the top five states anti- Obama? Must be a reason.
ReplyDeleteLots of people fear the so-called "death panels" that they claim are part of healthcare reform. That's a joke! The "death panels" have existed for years in the guise of controling health care costs to the poor--you can't pay, the panel speaks, "Sorry, but you may just have to die."
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed Obama doesn't mention health care since it was deemed a tax? Back to class warfare.
ReplyDeleteLJ, you would make such a perfect European Socialist. How's that working out?
ReplyDelete"First, I,m not interested in anything NPR has to say." Way to go! Just ignore other points of view - that'll help the dialogue.
ReplyDeleteThe issue now is not whether you like the new health care law. Now that it is apparently here to stay, the only issue is how we (Texas) respond. The Feds will pay 100% for 3 years and 90% thereafter. Having my tax dollars go to NY and CA does not seem like a wise choice to me. It seems like political posturing.
According to the Congressional Budget Office the latest estimates for ten years of ObamaCare are now up to 2.6 trillion dollars compared to President Obama's original ten year estimate of 900 billion. And another thing, what good does it do to insure people with insurance wich few doctors can afford to accept. I am just glad that there is no way in the world as things stand that President Obama will win Texas. I actually even think he is going to loose in a landslide. Larry you say it isn't going to cost Texas anything for the first three years. Last time I checked Texans pay taxes and this monstrosity called ObamaCare has a price tag that few can even begin to comprehend.
ReplyDeleteAgain, dealing with the reality, our tax dollars are already going to go to Washington. Not accepting them back is foolish.
ReplyDeleteAgain, if Texas accepts its tax dollars back by opting in to Obama Care, then Texas becomes obligated to pay up to 10% of the dollars spent in this state by the Feds for Obama Care . So the tax dollars paid into the plan by Texas increases. No cap on the number of participants will put Texas in the same boat as the socialist states - bankrupt!
