Larry,I hope you will give a shout out to Margaret Thacher, who reversed Britian's economic decline, the same as you commented favorably on communist Van Jones, terrorist Saul Alinsky and other communist/ socialists. However, I won't hold my breath.
My respects to Ms. Thatcher. However, she was noted for ideas like there is no community, only individuals. No redemptive, Christian perspective there. Set world on course to current challenges. .
Larry, I am surprised that someone like you would take a statement like that out of context. The actual quote was, "There is no such thing as society" She was talking about people thinking that if they had a problem, the government(society) should fix it. Just like people thinking the government owes them a check, a house, food stamps, etc. What she was saying is that "society" is made up of individuals. What one person takes out of the pot, another taxpayer puts in at the other end. There is no entity called a society that puts the money in.
By "society" it is clear she meant "community" or collective responsibility. To believe that we have a responsibility to provide and care for one another beyond the hardnosed canons of rugged individualism is not socialism, it is the response of faith in response to the crushing realities of life. History is clear that PM Thatcher minimized any collective response or sense of obligation. Compare that view with the one found in Deuteronomy 15:1-11 or Acts 2 & 4.
I can't believe those are real pictures. It looks just like the drawings you posted 6 months ago. Great progress!

ReplyDeleteRather a strong disclaimer for Ms Thatcher. She did favor individualism over collective socialism which is obviously your cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteLarry, you don't know what your talking about.
ReplyDeleteIf it were not for The Iron Lady, Britain would have become Greece long ago.
ReplyDeleteI am shocked at all the hate coming from the left today.

ReplyDeleteThe trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. Margaret Thatcher
