Truth

"Truth exists; only falsehood has to be invented."

--Georges Braque quoted on the beginning page of Nelson Demille's Up Country, a novel about a GI's return to Vietnam.

An interesting quote when you consider that Braque was one of the pioneers of cubism (along with Picasso). At first glance, his art appears like pure invention. But, when you consider his art in the context of your quote, it seems that he and his contemporaries were deconstructing our standard perspective of this world and thus revealing Truth. Truth does not equal reality. Our reality is invented.

The Dallas Museum of Art has some of his work.
