Quote of the Week

"We stand by as children starve by the millions because we lack the will to eliminate hunger. Yet we have found the will to develop missiles capable of flying over the polar cap and landing within a few feet of their target. This is not innovation. It is a profound distortion of humanity's purpose on earth."
-Retired Republican Senator Mark Hatfield of Oregon

I'm impressed--you quoted a Republican in a favorable light!

The other night on the Stand Against Cancer broadcast I think the statistics were 6 million is spent on cancer research and 65 million on nuclear weapons. Again..another distortion in the misappropriation of funds.

Lynn, I think that the U.S.A. is actually spending about $7 billion annually on nuclear weapons. The $65 million figure might be only for new weapons, not including all the maintenance, security, training, and labor that goes into keeping the existing ones ready for use.

Pray for peace.

Millions? You must be talking about lawless regions in Africa. Who believes that the hungry there would be filled if only we could limit military spending?

Where are the Sen. Hatfields and other Republicans now when they are so badly needed?

Where are the progressive Republican Party to stop the unrelenting hijacking of their party by narrow-minded, war-mongering animal-slaughtering, anti-intellectual demagogues?
