Owen

My second grandson, Owen Frazer blows me away on a regular basis!

I do believe that he knows more about Star Wars than George Lucas!  Every time we are together he gives me a seminar on the various layers of the saga, especially as the complex storyline relates to the innumerable figures and vehicles that he has amassed in his growing collection!

When it comes to Star Wars, Owen's encyclopedic knowledge is spurred along by his dad's childhood experience and his vintage collection of figures and implements of war and conquest!

It is just a real hoot playing Star Wars with Owen!  He possesses great imagination and demonstrates quite a proclivity for organization and order.

Star Wars leads inevitably to Legos!

He loves assembling Lego kits, especially of Star Wars Clone Wars!  We've enjoyed many an hour of putting block upon block until something almost magical appeared.

Recently, Owen broke his mother's heart, quite a feat at the ripe old age of 5!

Conspiring with his dad--anyone else see a pattern here???--and the local barber, Owen shed his golden locks and replaced them with a genuine buzz cut!  The photos here reveal the interesting transformation.  I'm told that when he walked up to his mom in the grocery store with his new cut, she didn't recognize him at first!

The new hair style also coincided with a neighborhood block party, thus the Spider Man pose.

What a joy is this boy!  He makes me smile. . .all  the time!

Owen's first goal in his first soccer game

Owen Frazer is my grandson. He turns 4-years-old on May 7.

This morning he played in his first soccer game.

It was a blast!

Naturally, I had my camera along.

What you'll see in the clip here is Owen and his friends being little children.

You'll also see him score his first goal when he took the ball and dribbled to the goal. He is so laid back and kind. But he knew what to do with the ball when his chance came.

Forgive me, but I love it!

BTW--Owen wears #3 on his neon lime jersey!

An Unforgettable Moment

Warning: Crazy Granddad on this page!

Okay.

You've been warned.

Last Monday evening after dinner with our youngest daughter, Joanna, her husband, Jordan, and, of course, our youngest grandson, Owen; we prepared to depart one of our favorite East Dallas joints for our respective homes.

Owen had a better idea.

He informed his parents that he wanted to go to "Granddad and Granny's house."

It was a tough night for a sleep-over since the next morning Owen and his mom were leaving for the Gulf Coast with dad to follow in a couple of days.

They planned to leave by 6:00 a.m.

I volunteered to get him up and back home in plenty of time, but that really was a ridiculous suggestion. Hey, it's my job. I'm one of the granddads in this outfit!

Owen protested that he knew where he wanted to go. So, our sidewalk discussion continued.

At one point, Jordan produced a nice bag of M & Ms, Owen's favorite candy! He handed it to Owen. As the conversation went on, Jordan informed Owen that if he went home with us, he would need to surrender his candy treasure.

He thought for about a second and then handed the unopened candy back to his dad and held on to my leg.

We were all amazed.

We compromised in the end. Owen came home to play a while before bath and bed. Mom came a little later and picked him up and all was well.

As we were leaving the restaurant with Owen in my arms, he called back over my shoulder to his parents, "I feel better now!" Then, he had to get down and run give them a parting kiss.

What a kid!

Owen, I feel better too, and I will for a long time. I'll never forget what you did.

Granddad loves you, boy!
