Poor People and God

A sample of proverbial, Hebrew wisdom about God and the poor. . .
______________________________________________

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honours God.
Proverbs 14:31
He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.
Proverbs 19:17
If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.
Proverbs 21:13

Larry,
We need to pray for the church as a whole that we will minister to the poor like never before.
I am blessed to be at a church that meets the need of the poor giving out food, diapers, paying utilities, the beginning of this school year we are going to give out school supplies to those in need.
And God is blessing us in ways we can't begin to imagine.
How sad it is when churches neglect the needs of the poor and cut back in their benevolence and spend more on themselves.
May we pray that we will answer God call to ministry to the poor. May we learn from the ministry of Jesus what true ministry really is.
God bless your ministry as you minister to those in need.
You are in my prayers.
May the church answer to the call.
Thank you.

Churches often give out charity, but do they truly give out justice? Do they truly open their ears to the "cry of the poor," as Proverbs states?
