I heard McLaren speak this past Spring at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. He was, as expected, provocative and relevant, especially for the assembly of Episcopal clergy and students that attended. He had some fascinating ideas at the conclusion of his address about the innovative, yet ancient, ways that the church could engage the culture.
I'm looking forward to both of the books he's promoting. Justice is a subject long forgotten by the American church (one of the primary reasons for its recent, and abrupt, decline). His other book about A New Kind of Christianity will be extremely timely, given the radical and exciting changes that are occurring in the faith community in America.
